GENE VEIT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Coach Eugene Veit
March 19, 1936 - February 18, 2002

Coach Gene Veit was J I Case High School's coach from 1966 - 1994. Coach Veit measured his teams to a very high standard.

Gene Veit has had his share of quality players in his quarter century coaching career at Case, including linebacker Todd Simonsen, who played at Iowa in the late 1970s, and Veit's son, Sam, who was Wisconsin's punter. Sam Veit earned second-team All-Big Ten honors who ended his career with the greatest honor of all, a Rose Bowl win in 1994.

Case Alumni C Club members give $1500.00 annually to the Gene Veit Memorial Scholarship Fund, in memory of Coach Veit (who passed away in 2002 from brain cancer). This scholarship is given annually to the top male ($750.00) and female ($750.00) athletes at J I Case High School.

So far, the Case Alumni C Club members have given a total of $10,000.00 to the Gene Veit Memorial Scholarship Fund.

"...Of all the coaches I had, none of them had a bigger impact on me than coach Veit..." Glen Alan Kuiper (1978-81 three-sport athlete at Case, Play-by-play broadcaster for the Oakland Athletics)
